Cobia Big Fish Tournament

For twenty nine years, fishermen have enjoyed the Annual Cobia Big Fish Tournament. This year, the tournament was held on June 8 and 9.  The first place prize for cobia was a whopping $6,000.

One word: WOW!
Entry was only $125 per a boat. Entries were limited to 200 boats.

The tournament completely filled up this year.  Make sure you register early next year! Contestants arrived at MacRae's Friday, June 7th for the captain's meeting.

Check out this video from fishermen from at the  tournament:

Although, I did not fish the tournament, I had a lot of fun! There were many other weekend activities. On Friday, Saturday and
Sunday, MacRae's provided attendees with live music.

Delicious food was available all three days including a BBQ dinner, fish fry and other seafood specialties catered by Riverside Crabhouse.

There were over twenty vendors set-up at the
Tournament Fish
tournament.  Vendors sold items such as t-shirts, coozies, ice cream, even handmade statues.

Florida Forest Services promoted Operation Outdoor Freedom. The program, championed by Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam, offers free hunting opportunities to wounded veterans.

The Crazy On Outdoors booth was by far the
JET with Crazy On Outdoors
most popular booth. Everywhere you looked people were saying and wearing,

"Getcha crazy on."

People showed up at the event via boat, car, truck, golf cart or walked!

There are two hotels to stay at that are within walking distance of the tournament, MacRae's and Riverside Resort.

If you missed it this year, make sure you participate in next year's tournament!

It is fun for adults and children.  You will get a genuine "Old Florida" experience.

Congratulations to this year's winners:

Lollygaggers, Crystal River, Florida

As you drive through Crystal River, keep an eye out for the Lollygaggers sign.  You do not want to miss the opportunity to go to this clean, updated sports pub and grill.  The owners Chase Palmes and Michele Fayette take pride in their restaurant, Lollygaggers.

20 beers on tap at Lollygaggers Sports Pub and Grill

"We proudly provide our customers with twenty beers on draft," said Chase.

Black'n Bleu Orchard Salad

The grill is known for their delicious sandwiches and salads.  Lollygaggers provides customers with a happy hour Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  The happy hour specials are two for one wells, $2.50 glass of house wine, and $12 domestic beer buckets.

Delicious Reubens at Lollygaggers.

When I visit Lollygaggers some of my favorites are the reuben, the chef salad, and the farm burger.  Try to visit them on the 17th of every month to experience the delicious corned beef and cabbage.

One of their most popular nights is Tuesday.  Every Tuesday is Taco and Tequila Tuesday.  Tacos will only cost you $1.50.  Margaritas are only $3.00.

Tacos are only $1.50 on Tuesdays!

Michele always makes sure the margaritas are freshly made.  While you sip on your margarita and eat your tacos, you get to hear live music by Casey.  He starts playing at 7:00 PM, but you can only catch him on Tuesdays.

Friendly staff at Lollygaggers

Another reason why I love going to
Lollygaggers is the staff.  The bartenders are very friendly and professional.  You will be greeted with a smile!

As a sports pub, they make sure customers are satisfied.  You will find flat screens every where you look.  They have the MLB, NFL, NBA, NCAA, and college football packages.  The game you want to watch, will be on for you!

"There's no place like this place anywhere near this place...so this must be the place!"
